Handscroll of Yuan Masterpieces
Eight masterpieces of landscape, bamboo and rock paintings by eight masters of the Yuan dynasty are compiled in this single handscroll. The painting styles with different atmospheres, such as the richness of Chao Meng-fu and Wu Chen, the refinement of Kuan Tao-sheng, Ni Tsan and Chuang Lin, and the simplicity of Ma Wan, Chao Yuan and Lin Tzu-huan, are all represented in this handscroll.
P33-2 Ma Wan: Clearing after the Rain in Spring Mountains Ma Wan excelled at poetry, painting and calligraphy, and whenever he encountered a lovely scene he painted it and gave titles on his own paintings.
P33-3 Chao Yuan: Lu Yu Brewing Tea A thatched hut in the hills by the water. A man sits alone as his boy attendant brews tea. Chao Yuan excelled in the painting of landscapes and bamboo.
